A: Typically the Saturday after Memorial Day or the 3rd Saturday in September.
Q: Is there any charge for the work performed?
A: No, there is no charge to the homeowner to participate in Hearts & Hammers. Hearts & Hammers relies on the time and skill of volunteers and on donated supplies to complete the home improvement projects.
Q: What type of home improvement does Hearts & Hammers provide?
A: Home improvements are limited to exterior painting, repairs and yardwork. They typically include painting, caulking, repair or replacement of windows and doors, ramp construction, repair or replacement of exterior light fixtures, landscaping, removal of debris and other services to restore the character of the home and to improve its weatherproofing and security. Hearts & Hammers does not provide any interior refurbishment, major electrical work or plumbing services.
Q: Do I qualify for assistance from Hearts & Hammers?
A: You may qualify if you answer yes to the following:
- You must own and occupy your home
- Your home must be a single family residence
- You plan on living in your home for at least 2 years
- Your home has a siding material that can be painted
- You are physically unable to care for the exterior of your home
- Your annual income is not sufficient to make improvements to your home
